Hello to all, my name is Darren Collings.
I am a long term North Staffs Op member from years gone by, and my uncle and aunt Don and June Collings go back to the beginning. Although i have not performed any shows since guys n dolls a loooooooonnnng time ago, i have continued with my love of the entertainment industry and the theatre.

I am the head of music and performing arts for one of the countries biggest and by far the best special schools. I am a professional singer and session musician and work alongside many international theatre groups, schools as a producer and director.

Anyway,

My dept has currently expanded and i am running a brand new purpose built rehearsal and recording facility. In late October early November 2008 we will be offering our studio and its facilities for local theatre groups, artistes, singers, dancers etc etc

We are currently looking at schedules for evening and weekend bookings and should demand for the room be great, we will block book our services.

So, what can we offer?

A purpose built rehearsal studio with staged area.
Upto 10kw F.O.H p/a system with monitors.
A selection of handheld mics (radio,wired)
Headset radio mics.

Musical monitoring and playback through Minidisc, CD, Mp3, computer and cassette.

Digital recording of performances, rehearsals or auditions. All of which can be processed to disc.

We also have a large hall attached to the studio with excellent access for larger rehearsals, performances.

Both rooms have stage and effect lighting, smoke, snow and hazer machines.

Guys and dolls does seem a long time ago; sounds like you're doing well. Rehearsal rooms sound interesting, whereabouts are they? think North Staffs could well be interested.

The studio is at Blackfriars further education dept, off newhouse road bucknall.

Brand new performing arts block, we have excellent links within the community and are looking to extend these links.

I cant remember where N.S.O.S rehearsed.? think it was Burslem Queens?

Yes, North staffs did rehearse at the queens, but they've been at Thistley Hough High School for quite a while now, it's ok but I'm sure they would be interested in having a look at your set up; I'll pass the info on and they can get in touch.
I'm still performing, but haven't been inspired by the stuff societies have been doing for the last couple of years, trouble is it's down to what might sell and that precludes most of the interesting stuff, I'll see what comes up next year.

Yeah i know how you feel, Ive been waiting for years for someone to perform something that would inspire me to audition. Id love to do another musical. The problem with me although i love hairspray and wicked etc, i love the old rogers and hammerstien kind of show. I would love JCS, that would be right up my street. My favorite tune of all time as a singer is gethsemene.
Ah well one day.
