CASH ON DELIVERY
by Michael Cooney
Eric Swann is a man with a problem. Unbeknown to his wife Linda, he’s been claiming various benefits from the DSS, and doing quite nicely out of it too. However, his problems really start when he decides to go straight. He hasn’t banked on the DSS inspector turning up! Enlisting the help of bumbling lodger Norman, Eric tries to extricate himself from the chaos and in the process has to deal with an alcoholic inspector, a confused undertaker, a comatose hospital porter, a bewildered counsellor, a mad mother who eats wall paper and a washing machine with a mind of its own.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Michael Cooney has crafted a play very much in the traditions of classic farce. Combining all the usual conventions – mistaken identities, cross dressing, dead bodies and men without their trousers, ‘Cash on Delivery’ will have you laughing all the way home.
Tickets: Evenings £8, children under 16 and Student Card holders £5;
